Secretary Rubio to Meet With Danish Minister On NATO Sidelines

The meeting with be the first direct communication with Denmark in President Trump’s second term.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen during the NATO summit in Brussels, the Danish foreign ministry confirmed. The ministry said that Greenland will not be a topic covered by the two leaders.

“It is expected that both the situation in Ukraine and the security of Europe will be on the agenda, topics which are also anticipated to be discussed at the NATO meeting itself. Neither Greenland nor the Arctic are planned to be discussed,” the ministry said.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to take control of Greenland since his second term began. Greenland and Danish officials have maintained their stance against this idea. During his visit to Greenland last week, Vice President JD Vance stated that Denmark has not done an adequate job of keeping the island nation safe.

Greenland is a self-governing territory of Denmark and is full of rare earth minerals. But Greenland has protected these resources, with over 40 percent of its land and 4 percent of its coastal waters placed under conservation to prevent mining.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump and his administration officials as they seek to ensure strategic partnerships safeguard national and international security.
  • For Secretary Rubio to be discerning as he meets with the Danish foreign official.
